Many Exit Numbers have changed
recently, be sure to confirm directions if you are planning your first
outing with Kennebec Tidewater Charters.
From North (Augusta/Waterville)
Take I-95 (Not Maine Turnpike) South. You must take Exit 14 and pay the toll in
Gardner. Take Exit 26 (Richmond/Litchfield). Turn Left onto
Route 197 and proceed approximately 3.5 miles. You will pass through
the downtown area of Richmond and come to a stop sign at the river.
Take a right onto Front Street. The boat launch is located on the
left in the Fort Richmond Waterfront Park.
From South (Portland, Saco, Freeport)
Take I-95 (Not Maine Turnpike) North to Exit 26 (Richmond/Litchfield). Take a
right off the exit onto Route 197 and go 3.5 miles to town. At the
stop sign, you will be facing the Kennebec River. Take a right onto
Front Street. The boat launch is located on the left in the Fort
Richmond Waterfront Park.
From the Mid
Coast (Boothbay Harbor, Wiscasset)
Take U.S. Route 1 South,
cross the Sheepscot River bridge into Wiscasset. Continue south
approximately 1/2 mile to the junction of Route 27 (on the right).
Stay on 27 until you reach the junction of 197 (on left) in the town of
Dresden Mills. (8+/- miles) Stay on 197, you will cross 2
bridges. Take a left on Route 24. Kennebec Tidewater
Bike and Boat Rentals is 1/2 mile on the left next to the Fort
Richmond waterfront park and the Swan Island Ferry landing.
For Kennebec Tidewater Bike
and Boat Rentals, take a left onto Front Street. The
Kayak shop is on the right next to the Swan Island Ferry landing.
